H6:Running five miles
......I have heard many of you have experience running five miles is not easy and stop soon after starting. Others have similar experiences as shown in the graph below, “Runner’s five mile time: The first seven years”. When Runners start running five miles, in the beginning, it took 45 minutes the first year. After 7 years in running, the time decreased to about 30 minutes. If you look at the difference between year 1 and year 2, you can see the time dropped dramatically from 45 to 34 minutes, which means an 11 minute decrease and the total of 15 minutes in 7 years. The graph below shows a steady decrease from the second year to the end of year 7 with only a 4 minute decrease. If you keep running at least one year, you will see a big difference one year later. Don’t dream it. Just do it.
